The
Our Market Project
unveiled
new revitalized awnings
and
three new murals
as part of the Our Market Ancestors mural series. Ancestors Carl Redel, Danny
and Joe Di Bruno, and Betty Ann “Aunt Betty” Mongelluzzo are honored in the
new public artworks.
The mural series highlights the many ancestors on 9th Street that have
contributed to the rich immigrant history of the Market. The portraits were
painted by Lead Artist and Project Director
Michelle Angela Ortiz, and the decorative frames were created by artist
Emily Busch. Artists Valentín Sánchez-Stoddard and Briana Dawkins assisted. The new
public artworks will be featured in the upcoming community led
Our Market Tours
starting on May 3rd.
